capital_w_2ith Music and Theatre degrees from Copenhagen, Brigitte has carried on her music studies at York University and the Royal Conservatory in Toronto. In the 2008 Newmarket Voice Festival she won gold in the Classical Opera and Operetta categories.

Since 2007 she has conducted the Danish Community Choir, Hansa Choir and Toronto Swedish Singers, joining all three choirs for performances of Schubert’s Deutsche Messe (April 2008). She opened the 2008 Nordic Fair at Mel Lastman Square with a solo performance in the presence of the Lieutenant Governor, sang as lead soloist in the annual Toronto Conference Concert, and was chosen to sing the Swedish national anthem at the Air Canada Centre, Toronto, for the match between Canada and Sweden in the World Junior Hockey Competition.

Stage performances include: Annchen in Der Freischutz, Denise in Offenbachs La Mariage aux lanternes (Royal Conservatory, 2008), Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors and multiple roles in The Beggar Student (Polyhymnia Operetta Company, Copenhagen 2002). She appeared – as singer, dancer and actor – in Grise Cabaret (Copenhagen), and in Kiss Me Kate, Godspell and Grease for the Svendborg Fritidsteater (Denmark). As an actress she appeared at the Royal Danish Theatre in Rabelais’ Gargantua (Copenhagen 2004).

Her extensive practical theatre experience includes: Assistant Production Manager and Lighting Technician for Opera Atelier (The Magic Flute, Orpheus and Eurydice and the premiere of Sleeping Beauty, Toronto 2007); Dramaturge for the Canadian premiere of The Ballad of Baby Doe (Calgary Opera 2008); Assistant Director at the Royal Danish Theatre (San Diego, 2005) and the Meridiano Theater (Comoedia Humana, 2003) in Copenhagen. She also advises Tapestry Opera (Toronto).

She plays recorder (since 1985) and piano (since 1995) – and recently presented papers on Music Theatre at conferences in Niagara Falls, Bielefeld (Germany), Los Angeles, at York University and the Shaw Festival.
